What to wear and how to wear it - a guide
It doesn't have to be so complicated
I know, family pictures can be super stressful. Picking out outfits...changing your mind...200 trips to the store with cranky toddlers and explaining to your family that 'this is the last pair of jeans, I promise.'
It doesn't have to be that hard, really. Here's a few tips to help you make family picture day awesome, and easy.
Keep it simple
Stick to simple things that look nice. Think jeans and a button up for dad, maybe some plaid or flannel, then pick colors for the rest of your outfits based on what's in that shirt. For example, dad's wearing a green and blue plaid button up. So for you, go for a nice hunter green flowy dress. For little sister, jeans and a different shade of blue shirt. Put little brother in some jeans and a different shade of green button up. Stay away from busy patterns and shirts with branding, graphics or words on them.
THINK TIMELESS
Think about leg warmers. You see those in a picture and it looks dated immediately! Stay away from style trends that are here and gone. Keep to the classic looks that will look good on your walls for years to come.
Be comfortable
Yes, the three piece suit looks aodrable on your 2 year old. But let's be honest, he's probably not going to want to stay in it for more than 5-10 minutes. The more comfortable you and your family feel, the better your pictures will look. It matters!
Add a pop of color
Find colors in the same palette, then pick one of you to wear something a little brighter. For instance, if you've got everyone else in brown and maroon tones, pick something yellow for yourself. This adds a nice pop of color that will both bring everything together, and make the photos pop!
ACCESSORIZE AND LAYER
A simple way to take your pictures to the next level - accessorize and layer! I know what you're thinking - most months of the year Phoenix and the surrounding areas do not lend themselves to lots of layers - but you can be creative! Light shirts with a light jacket, a light sweater or cardigan, and all kinds of accessories. Make sure you're in the same palette as the rest of your outfits, but be you!
